Zeke raised his golden eyebrows in surprise. “What?”

I folded my arms across my chest, and let out a patient sigh. “How much? For the girl?”

Zeke let out a large puff of smoke out of his cruel lips, and grinned wickedly. I could see the three of his golden molders, shining back at me- mocking my pained expression.

“You want her that much eh?” he chuckled- it was a terrible sound.

Fortuna Academy-Ch.04 - Abandoned Building Part 1

It was late night at Fortuna Academy, and most students where already sleeping. It wasn't the case for two students. Van and Hiruma stood in front the Academy Building, where the classes and related installations where located. They were waiting for Ryuuga to arrive after they sent him a message asking his help.

"You think he's coming?" Van asked.

"Probably. Oh, there he is." Hiruma said spotting Ryuuga flying in their direction. He landed in front of them.

"Good Night…" He greeted.

"So you came…" Hiruma said cracking a smile.

"Thanks for coming." Van said. He looked around. "Where are Yumi and Jin?"

"I didn't call them.  They had a long day and they're tired. Let those two rest for a while." Ryuuga replied. "So what did you guys call me here for?" He asked.

"You brought any weapons?" Hiruma asked. Ryuuga nodded, summoning his sword.

"Good. We might need to be strongly armed for this." Hiruma remarked. Ryuuga arched an eyebrow. "Why?" The silver-haired teen asked.

"Just come with us. We'll explain once we get to our destination. Van answered.

"Fine."

Ryuuga, Hiruma and Van were walking through the depths of Fortuna Woods. Sounds of crickets chirping filled the atmosphere. "How come Crow isn't here?" Ryuuga asked noticing the Black-haired prankster's absence. " He couldn't make it." Van replied. "Why is that?" Ryuuga asked back. "He had some…Unexpected business to take care of." Van replied shuddering.

"YOU ASSHOLE!!!!" Said a white-haired celeste girl attacking Crow with the staff of her spear. "HOW DARE YOU TRY TO PEEK ON ME!!!" She roared.

"I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO GET CAUGHT!!!" Crow replied in a frightened tone. "SORRY!!!"

"OH YOU WILL BE SORRY AFTER I'M DONE WITH YOU!!!" The girl roared.

Hiruma and Van where watching the whole scene trying not to laugh. "Uh… You and Luna seem pretty busy…We'll come back another time." Van said nervously as He and Hiruma walked away from Crow's room. "NO! GUYS!! DON'T LEAVE YOUR COMRADE TO DIE LIKE THIS!!!"

"Let's just say that Crow doesn't know when to stop…" Van said laughing nervously, dropping a bead of sweat.

The three male teens walked for a bit longer before reaching their destination: A large mansion, behind a somewhat sturdy-looking gate

"What is that?" Ryuuga asked.

"Some students who wandered around here came out gravely injured and sent to the Medical Center. Van and I came here to investigate what's going on." Hiruma explained. "Nobody knows what this building is all about. We want to investigate this as well."

"That's why you called me?"

"Pretty much."

"Care to lend us a hand?" Van asked.

"Sure." Ryuuga said calmly. Van smiled and Hiruma smirked.

"All set. Let's get to it." Hiruma said entering the abandoned building. Ryuuga and Van followed suit. "Look sharp, men. For we don't know what lies ahead."

The trio found themselves in a dark room. The faint illumination given by the moonlight allowed them to see worn-out statues.
"Eugh....It's too dark even for my tastes." said Hiruma. "Got a light?"

"Sure." Van said. The glow emanating from Van's hand allowed them a better view of the room. It seemed like a large entrance hall, several tall pillars runnning down the length of the multi-colored tiled stone floor. The supporting pillars that held the hall were also decorated with different color stone or ceramic tiles around them. Along the walls were works of fine art and more tile decorations. A set of steps led up to the second part of the hall, which was elaborately decorated with more of the same.

"Ok, what the hell is this place?" Hiruma questioned a bit annoyed.

"That's what we're here to find out."  Ryuuga said calmly. "Let's look around."

Meanwhile...back at the dorms.
Yumi was knocking on Ryuuga's room door. "Ryuuga! You there? Ryuuga?" She called.
"I'm coming in!" Yumi said using one of her talismans to open the door. She saw no one inside,
"Ryuuga?" She looked around. She noticed he left his PC. Feeling investigative, Yumi turned it on and noticed a new message he received. It was the message Van sent him earlier. "He's out, huh? I swear I've heard those two names before..." Yumi said pondering for a moment.
"Oh,yeah. Those guys are in the Disciplinary Committee."

"..."

Yumi returned to her room. She looked at the blond boy sleeping soundly in her bed. She couldn't help but think Jin's goofy sleepy face was kinda cute. But she could admire it later. Regaining her composure, she kicked him out of the bed. With a loud thud, Jin fell on the floor. He slowly got up groaning in pain. "Ow...What was that for, Yu?" He asked rubbing the back of his head, his voice a bit groggy.

"Change your clothes and get your gear. We're going out."

"I don't wanna...." Jin said pouty. "I'm tired..."

"Well, that's too bad. I was going to chase Ryuuga. Apparently he's out with the guys from the disciplinary committee." Jin's ear twitched. "If he's with them, there's probably some fighting-"

"On it!" Jin said, fully dressed and ready to go, leaving his room in a hurry.

"-involved." Yumi smirked "That never fails." Yumi told herself, snickering while going after Jin.

"Yo, guys!" Van called. "Check this out!" Hiruma and Ryuuga walked towards Van's direction.

"What is it?" Hiruma asked.

"Hang on." Van said grabbing a floor tile and lifting it, revealing a secret staircase.

"Ok, secret staircases now? The hell is with this place?" Hiruma complained.

"I think our answer is down here…" Van said going down the staircase.

Ryuuga and Hiruma followed suit. As they ventured further, they could hear some growling noises.  Hiruma drew his guns in a swift motion and Ryuuga summoned his sword. "Stay alert…" Hiruma whispered. Ryuuga and Van nodded. The growls became louder as they went deeper in the hallway.

"If this is anything like those survival horror movies, the source of those noises should pop out just about..."

Suddenly, angry wolves bursted from the rooms and attacked the trio.

"Now." Ryuuga said getting into battle position. His eyes squinted as one wolf charged at him with its jaw open. Ryuuga stepped aside and dashed to the wolf as it went sailing by.  He slashed fiercely through the wolf, killing it instantly. Hiruma dodged another wolf's assault by warping above the beast, blasting it with a powerful mana shot. Van punched the last wolf's jaw, breaking it along with its neck.

"Those wolves live around here. But they're usually docile." Hiruma commented.

"But why would they be lurking around here? And why are they going berserk?" Van questioned.

The floor beneath them then began to crack.

"Well..Fu-"

"Well, Tracking Ryuuga's mana led us to this place…" Yumi said looking at the abandoned building top to bottom.

"Why would he be at a place like this?" Jin wondered aloud, scratching his head. Yumi merely ignored the question and walked in.

"Let's just look for him and find out." Yumi said. "C'mon!" She called.

"Alright, alright…" Jin muttered annoyed as he followed the black-haired girl."Wow, It sure is dark here..." A crumbling noise was then heard, surprising both teens.

"I don't like the feel of this...Let's look for Ryuuga." Yumi said worried.

"Is everyone ok?" Ryuuga asked as he slowly landed on the floor the hole that opened underneath them led to. Hiruma emerged from the rubble.

"I'm ok here. What about you Van?" The wolfboy emerged from the rubble.

"Ow…what happened?"

"The floor crumbled and you fell down." Ryuuga replied."Can you guys keep going?"

"Yup."

"It needs more than that to take us down." Van bragged. Ryuuga smirked. The three found themselves in what appeared to be a library, where several shelves along the room contained books of various kinds. The room itself was dimly lit, with only a few lamps around. Small tapestries hung off the wall in several places.  Ryuuga noticed a book on a nearby table.  He opened it on a random page.

"I wonder how long it has been since Kyoraku and I first decided to found this academy. It's been a while…I haven't seen Yoshida in a long time… I heard his son graduated in the academy this year. Apparently he's getting married next week."

Ryuuga flipped to another page.

I've had a great life, and only one regret: Not having a pupil. I wish I could have someone who would carry my teachings on to the next generation…but I digress. My end is near, and I've decided to leave my most precious relics upon a chamber deep within this building, hoping someone worth of wielding them appears. Should such a person appear, I leave the task of guiding this person to my fellow companion, Kagutsuchi.  I hope this someone works hard to protect this beautiful world as much as I di- "

"RYUUGA!"  Hiruma shouted, causing the boy to snap back at reality. "Stop daydreaming. We found a way up, let's keep going." Ryuuga placed the book back on the table and followed Hiruma and Van as them climbed a ladder. At the top of the ladder, there was another hallway which went off to their left and right. They made their way through the hallway until they found a door. Ryuuga carefully poked his head on the other side and looked around for more wolves. There were none. Opening the door, they found themselves back outside on a small clearing, with a path branching off to the left. Ahead, the path led straight ahead, then hung a right and off to somewhere else. They took a few steps, and found that the path to their right led to a large set of double doors. Van tried to open them. They weren't budging.

"It's locked; there should be a key somewhere around here." Said Van. "Let's look aroun-" He was cut short by Hiruma moving him away from the door. "We don't need keys." Hiruma said examining the door. He then pulled his guns and blasted the door open. Or so he hoped. The sturdy door made the blast backfire on the black-haired teen, knocking him back. "I think we do." Van said deadpan.

"No we won't." Said a familiar female voice. Ryuuga instantly recognized that voice. He looked behind him to see Yumi and Jin walking towards them.

"So you go partying and you don't even call us? I'm hurt, really." Yumi remarked snarkly. Ryuuga chuckled. "I didn't want to bother you guys. I thought you were sleeping." He replied. "How did you guys find me anyway?" He asked.

"We tracked your mana signature." Yumi explained. "But that's not important now. Move it." Yumi said making her way to the sturdy gate. She set a paper tag on the door above the keyholes and formed a triangle sign with her hands.

"Mahou no Fuukanshi - Anrokku!"

The spell tag began to glow and a unlocking sound was heard. Yumi gently pushed the gate and it slid open.

"After you." She told Ryuuga politely making a reverence towards the door. Ryuuga muttered a thanks as he passed Yumi and went through the door. Hiruma,Van and Jin followed suit. Yumi entered the room and closed the gate. This room, unlike the others, was well lit by mana-powered lamps. "All right, now that I opened the door for you, I believe it's time to explain what you're doing here." Yumi said.

"Well, I received a message from those two-" Ryuuga said pointing at Hiruma and Van. "- Asking me to meet up with them in front of the school building. We met up and came here. Apparently some students who wandered around here got hurt pretty badly. We're here to investigate what's going on. We fought some wolves who, according to Hiruma here,  weren't supposed to be acting savagely. We're trying to find out why." He finished.

"I see." Yumi replied. She turned her head to Hiruma. "I don't think we've been properly introuduced yet, right? I'm Yumi Suzuki, Jin's girlfriend. Nice to meet you two." She said with a bow. "Our pleasure" Hiruma said bowing back.

"So, are we going further, or what? I'm itching to stab something already!!" Jin said excited.  "You'll get your chance, bro. But we don't need a doggy whistle right now so keep it down, would you?" Hiruma said patting Jin's back. "See if you can find anything ununsual here." Hiruma told the group. They began to look around the large hall . There were many odd looking statues resembling headless muscular figures standing by the walls, and 4 pillars that were symmetrically positioned to each other.

Van stepped on a tile that activated a trap in the room that caused iron bars to shut down around the doors, trapping the group inside. Then, the statues that were on the room suddenly started to move towards the group with their weapons raised.

"Great. Just what we needed." Ryuuga muttered with a sigh.
